Charles Phillips is a seasoned environmental professional with over 30 years of experience protecting North Carolina's natural resources. His career began in 1994 as a Wildlife Technician with NC Wildlife Resources Commission. In 2000, he moved to the NC Department of Environmental Quality where he developed expertise in Erosion and Sediment Control, Dam Safety, and Mining operations. Charles joined Wake County Environmental Services in 2004 where he enforced stormwater, erosion control, and floodplain development standards.
With 23 years of State and County government work behind him, Charles decided municipal work was the place to make real change and joined Town of Fuquay-Varina in 2017. As Engineering Inspections Supervisor, Charles oversees a dedicated group of field inspectors that plays a vital role in maintaining the town's critical infrastructure and stormwater systems. Through rigorous inspections and enforcement protocols, Charles ensures environmental compliance for one of the fastest growing municipalities in the State. His pragmatic ability to resolve construction challenges and community concerns, makes him an invaluable asset to the Town of Fuquay-Varina.
