Dr. Kranz is a faculty member in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University. She got her BS in environmental science from Ithaca College, MS in soil science from University of Wisconsin - Madison, and PhD in soil science from North Carolina State University. Before getting her graduate degrees, she worked for a material science company (Ecovative Design) developing bio-based materials. Currently, she teaches introductory soil sciences courses, conducts research and workshops at the Sediment and Erosion Control Research and Education Facility at North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on sediment and erosion control, water quality, stormwater management in urban and post-construction soils. Christina has spent many years working with the North Carolina DOT to help improve their best management practices for soil improvement. She regularly provides training and field trips at the Sediment and Erosion Control Research and Education Facility.
