Full Abstract: This presentation is a comprehensive exploration of the innovative applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in stormwater vegetation and environmental management, shedding light on their multifaceted benefits. By harnessing aerial surveillance, data collection, and advanced analytics, UAVs (or drones) offer numerous advantages over traditional monitoring methods. They enable real-time monitoring of stormwater infrastructure, vegetation, and project site conditions, facilitating early detection of issues like erosion and unauthorized disturbances. Site monitoring, typically labor-intensive, can now be streamlined with UAVs equipped with high-resolution cameras and additional sensors like thermal imaging. These drones capture detailed imagery for immediate assessment and mapping of environmental concerns, enhancing real-time evaluation and monitoring. Data gathered during monitoring events can be used to quickly and efficiently develop and map corrective actions, identify size and scope of impacts to better estimate materials and equipment needs, and track progress. Throughout the presentation, we'll discuss UAV technology, its potential benefits, and tools for environmental compliance, as well as strategies for seamless integration into projects by using real case studies and examples from active projects.
